For the third year, National Grid’s Eryri VIP team and its main contractor Hochtief UK supported the popular Llandecwyn 10k race, which is well-known as one of Wales’ steepest and most challenging courses.
Held on 25th June, the event saw Eryri VIP senior project manager Steve Ellison and Hochtief project manager David Murray swap their hard hats for running shoes to join local community members in running the 10km route, which passes very close to the project’s eastern site compound.
National Grid sponsored the trophies, awarded to the runners who conquered the formidable route in the fastest time.
Hochtief UK provided logistical support for the race including toilet facilities and volunteer marshals who were on hand to ensure the safety of all participants using the car park.
Reflecting after completing the gruelling 10k, Steve Ellison commented: “It was highly rewarding and great fun to take on this challenge alongside our site neighbours and local community members.
“As the Eryri VIP project progresses on site, we are committed to supporting and investing in the local community wherever we can and look forward to getting involved with future events like the Llandecwyn 10k race.”
