Our Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) reporting centre brings together our key reports, policies and Responsible Business Charter (RBC) commitments.
Our RBC, which was refreshed in 2023, provides clarity on what matters to us and our stakeholders, helping us to meet the evolving demands of delivering the clean energy transition. By embedding commitments into business operations, we aim to continuously drive progress towards our Responsible Business goals.
Transparent, public reporting on our activities, commitments and performance is embedded in how we do business at National Grid. This includes reporting our sustainability data and performance, in line with widely recognised reporting standards and frameworks.

We set ambitious ESG performance targets for ourselves and believe it is important to report on our progress. Our sustainability performance and disclosures are evaluated by a range of major sustainability indices and other external organisations.
This external evaluation is based on a variety of inputs, including direct engagement via questionnaires, market research and analysis of our publicly disclosed data and sustainability information. Ratings allow investors to assess and track our ESG performance and disclosures against objective industry benchmarks. We use the results to help us strengthen our sustainability reporting processes and understand how our approach measures up to current standards, best practice and expectations.
