Walk this way to see how we’re transforming the landscape around Roundway Hill

Join members of National Grid's project team on Saturday 8 June at the North Wessex Downs Walking Festival.

Members of National Grid’s project team will be swapping their hard hats for walking boots on Saturday 8 June, returning to take part in the North Wessex Downs Walking Festival for the third successive year.

This year’s five-mile walk will be exploring Roundway Hill, including the site of the Civil War Battle of Roundway Down and the Iron Age hillfort, Oliver’s Castle.

Members of the team will be on hand to answer questions and explain why and how the landscape around the Millennium White Horse has been singled out for special attention.

We’ll also discuss the engineering and environmental challenges involved when removing an overhead line and replacing it with cables buried underground.  We’ll be joined by a representative from Wessex Archaeology to talk about the recent programme of archaeology that has been taking place across the site.
