The UK
- We own the high-voltage electricity transmission network in England and Wales. National Grid Electricity Transmission is responsible for making sure electricity is transported safely and efficiently from where it's produced to where it's needed.
- National Grid Electricity Distribution is the regional electricity distribution division of National Grid, formerly known as Western Power Distribution. It is the UK's largest electricity distribution network and serves nearly 8 million customers in the East and West Midlands, South West and Wales, delivering essential power to millions of homes and businesses across its regions.

The US
Unlike the UK, our gas and electricity businesses in the US supply energy directly to customers.
- We own and operate electricity distribution networks in upstate New York and Massachusetts.
- We own and operate electricity transmission facilities across the Northeast; including upstate New York, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and Vermont.
- We own and operate gas distribution networks across the Northeastern US.
International energy innovation
Our National Grid Ventures and National Grid Partners businesses work internationally. National Grid Ventures develops, operates and invests in large scale energy projects, technologies and partnerships across the UK and US to help accelerate the transition to clean energy. National Grid Partners is the energy industry’s first Silicon Valley-based corporate venture capital and innovation group, investing in smart ideas that will play a central role in the global transformation of energy.
