RISSP Awareness Training

On this page, you’ll find details of our Record of Inter System Safety Precautions (RISSP) training course including fees and how to book. 

About the course

Our Transmission Network Control Centre (TNCC) Control Person Safety (CPS) authorised staff will deliver RISSP awareness training at your establishment (be it office or site based) or at the National Grid House TNCC training facility.

This is in order that our customers’ staff can be nominated as trained in Grid Code cross-boundary safety precaution co-ordination (as per OC8A). As you can understand, we are not however authorising staff.

Course content will be tailored to customers’ individual configuration and will cover:

  • detailed training on Grid Code (OC8A) Cross-Boundary Safety Coordination, including understanding Defined Terms, roles and responsibilities as per the Grid Code

  • overview of RISSP processes including preamble guidance and RISSP completion guidance based on National Grid best practice

  • specific RISSP scenarios based on the customer connections to National Grid’s system, including exercises

  • overview of National Grid’s command and control tool for Safety coordinator awareness and appreciation.

  • practical examples

  • mini-assessment.

Duration: 1 day

Minimum delegates: 3

Maximum delegates: 10

Minimum of 3 delegates from the same entity will be required to secure booking. Prices below are based on 3- 5 delegates. Additional delegates can be added up to a total of 10.

Here you will have the opportunity to learn using highly specialist equipment that mimics live operational control scenarios within our TNCC training room. Course content will be tailored to customer configuration and lunch provided at no extra cost.

A presentation style learning with content tailored to your configuration. We ask that our customers please ensure an appropriate room with facilities to display screen is booked at their site to facilitate the training.
