National Grid plc today announces that it has agreed to acquire PPL WPD Investments Limited (together with its subsidiary undertakings), the holding company of Western Power Distribution, the UK's largest electricity distribution business, from PPL WPD Limited, a subsidiary of PPL Corporation for an equity value of £7.8 billion and National Grid has agreed to sell The Narragansett Electric Company to PPL Energy Holdings, LLC, also a subsidiary of PPL, for an equity value of US$3.8 billion (£2.7 billion).

National Grid is exploring the development of a UK hydrogen ‘backbone’, which aims to join together industrial clusters around the country, potentially creating a 2000km hydrogen network for the UK by around 2030.

National Grid awards more than half a million pounds in STEM grants to South West schools

Since 2018, National Grid’s Hinkley Connection Project, connecting low carbon energy from Hinkley Point C to homes and businesses across the UK, has awarded science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM) grants totalling £580,000 to schools in Somerset, Bristol and South Gloucester – the areas closest to the project.

National Grid to consult on plans to reinforce the electricity network in Yorkshire

Community Southwark awarded grant from National Grid to fund Support Officer for local BAME community
