What is the difference between National Grid Electricity Transmission and Distribution?

National Grid Electricity Distribution is the regional electricity distribution division of National Grid. We provide the power and manage the electricity distribution network for customers in the Midlands, South West and Wales. Formerly known as "Western Power Distribution"

National Grid Electricity Transmission own, maintain and develop the high voltage electricity transmission network in England and Wales. We carry power safely from where it’s made to where it can be distributed to homes and businesses via lower voltage regional networks.
