Diweddariad (Tachwedd 2024)
Rydym yn dal i weithio ar yr A4086 a’r A4244, yn ogystal â mewn caeau gerllaw, i osod dwythellau ceblau, i greu baeau uniadau, ac i gysylltu darnau o’n cebl â’i gilydd.
Ein gwaith ym mis Tachwedd:
• Clirio llystyfiant ger Rheilffordd Llyn Padarn fel y gellir mynd a dod yn ddiogel i ble mae angen i ni osod ceblau.
• Gosod dwythellau ceblau a baeau uniadau yn y caeau i’r gorllewin o Gwm-y-glo ac ar yrA4086.
• Gwaith yn parhau y tu mewn a’r tu allan I Orsaf Bwer Dinorwig.
Adeiladu ystyriol:
• Parhau i gydweithio â Chyngor Gwynedd, i sicrhau ein bod yn gweithio ar y priffyrdd yn y ffordd fwyaf effeithlon, a’n bod yn symud ymlaen â’r gwaith gan darfu cyn lleied ag y bo modd ar bobl yr ardal a defnyddwyr y ffyrdd.
• Parhau â’r gwaith adfer yn y mannau lle’r ydym wedi gosod ceblau ac uno’r darnau, fel eu bod yn edrych fel yr oeddent cyn ygwaith.
Rheoli traffig
Pan fyddwn yn gweithio ar y priffyrdd, rydyn ni’n dal i ddefnyddio goleuadau traffig dros dro i gadw defnyddwyr y ffordd a’n timau’n ddiogel. I gael yr wybodaeth ddiweddaraf am ein gwaith rheoli traffig ar yr A4244 a’r A4086, edrychwch ar y dudalen hon ar wefan Cyngor Gwynedd.
Dechreuwyd ar ein gwaith yn yr hydref 2021, gan ddechrau yn ein his-orsaf ym Mhentir. Hyd yma, mae ein gwaith wedi canolbwyntio ar osod dwythellau o dan yr A4086, yr A4244 a dyfrffyrdd lleol, fel y gallwn roi’r ceblau newydd o dan y ddaear.
Er ein bod bron â gorffen y rhan hon o’r prosiect, sy’n achosi’r anhwylustod mwyaf, mae angen gosod rhai dwythellau o hyd, yn cynnwys darn rhwng Llanrug a’r gylchfan ger Brynrefail.
Ar hyn o bryd, rydym yn dychwelyd i rai mannau ar yr A4086 a’r A4244 i greu ein baeau uniadau, lle rydym yn tynnu’r ceblau pŵer mawr iawn a thrwm trwy'r dwythellau a osodwyd gennym. Rydym yn defnyddio timau arbenigol ac offer sy'n tynnu'r cebl o ddrwm mawr. Bydd yr offer i'w gweld, ond byddant yn cael eu storio mewn ardaloedd gwaith penodol.
Os oes angen baeau uniadau mewn ffyrdd neu gerllaw iddynt, defnyddir goleuadau traffig dros dro i gadw ein timau ni a defnyddwyr y ffyrdd yn ddiogel.
Trwy gydol ein gwaith, mae darnau o graig galed iawn o dan yr A4086 wedi achosi heriau mawr. Cymerodd lawer mwy o amser na'r disgwyl i ni gloddio trwyddynt. Er mwyn gorffen y gwaith hwn cyn gynted â phosibl, rydym wedi bod yn gweithio oriau hirach ac ar benwythnosau, gan ddefnyddio peiriannau mawr, arbenigol ag olwynion torri ac offer torri creigiau.
Tra byddwn yn gweithio ar ein prosiect, mae’n rhaid i ni gadw at nifer o ganllawiau a chyfyngiadau. Gelwir rhai o’r rhain yn ‘gyfnodau embargo’. Cânt eu pennu gan Gyngor Gwynedd, sef yr awdurdod sy’n gyfrifol am yr holl waith ar briffyrdd yr ardal. Mae adegau yn ystod cyfnodau gwyliau a gwyliau banc pan nad ydym yn cael gweithio ar y priffyrdd heb eu caniatâd nhw.
Am weddill ein prosiect, rydym wedi cytuno â Chyngor Gwynedd i wneud cyn lleied o waith ag y bo modd ar yr adegau prysur hyn o'r flwyddyn. Mae hyn yn golygu y bydd angen i ni stopio gweithio, ail-lenwi tyllau a rhoi wyneb newydd ar y ffordd mewn mannau lle byddwn yn gadael y safle'n llwyr. Yna, gall fod angen i ni ailgloddio ar ôl cyfnod yr embargo. Gall hyn gymryd rhai wythnosau'n ychwanegol gan olygu llawer mwy o ‘atal ac ailddechrau’. Dyna pam y gallech ein gweld yn rhoi’r gorau i weithio yn rhywle ac yn dychwelyd wedyn. Oherwydd y cyfyngiadau, bydd ein gwaith ar ffyrdd yr ardal yn parhau tan ddiwedd 2026.
Rydym yn sylweddoli bod pobl eisiau i ni gwblhau’r gwaith yn gyflym. Byddwn yn dal i gydweithio’n agos â Chyngor Gwynedd i geisio gorffen y gwaith yn gynt.
Gan edrych ymlaen at ran arall o'n gwaith, caiff darn o un o’n cylchedau ei osod o dan lwybr Rheilffordd Llyn Padarn ar lan ogleddol y llyn. Ar hyn o bryd rydym yn disgwyl i'r gwaith ddechrau yn hydref 2025 a pharhau tan haf 2026.
Bob blwyddyn, mae National Grid yn anrhydeddu elusennau a mudiadau nid-er-elw trwy roi grantiau cymunedol.
Rydym yn ariannu pob math o brosiectau sy’n cael eu rhedeg gan elusennau a grwpiau cymunedol sy’n cynnig gwahanol fathau o fudd cymdeithasol, economaidd ac amgylcheddol mewn ardaloedd lle mae gwaith National Grid yn cael effaith ar bobl leol. Gallai grwpiau a sefydliadau lleol ger y prosiect hwn fod yn gymwys i gael cymorth.
Mae’n bleser gennym ddweud ein bod eisoes wedi dyfarnu arian i sefydliadau sy’n gysylltiedig â’r prosiect hwn o dan y cynllun grantiau cymunedol. Er mwyn ymgeisio, mae angen cyflwyno cais a gaiff ei ystyried gan National Grid.
Os hoffech wybod mwy, a dysgu am y broses ymgeisio a’r meini prawf ar gyfer bod yn gymwys, ewch i: https://www.nationalgrid.com/responsibility/community/community-grant-programme.
Er mwyn sicrhau bod y prosiect newydd hwn yn cael ei gwblhau o fewn yr amserlenni gofynnol, mae angen i ni gaffael yr holl hawliau tir sy’n angenrheidiol i wneud ein gwaith.
I gefnogi’r gwaith o gyflawni’r hawliau tir hyn, gwnaethom Orchymyn Prynu Gorfodol National Grid Electricity Transmission plc (Prosiect Newid Ceblau Rhwng Dinorwig a Phentir) 2021 (y Gorchymyn) ar gyfer y prosiect hwn ar 24 Medi 2021. Ar 24 Ebrill 2023 cadarnhawyd y Gorchymyn gan yr Ysgrifennydd Gwladol dros Ddiogelwch Ynni a Sero Net gyda mân addasiadau (gweler y dogfennau a restrir isod). Rhoddwyd cyhoeddusrwydd i hyn ar 31 Mai 2023, a daeth y Gorchymyn i rym ar y diwrnod hwnnw.
Yn ogystal â’r uchod, gwnaethom gais hefyd i Weinidogion Cymru am dystysgrif yn unol â Pharagraff 6 o Atodlen 3 i Ddeddf Caffael Tir 1981 (y ‘Dystysgrif’) ar 17 Rhagfyr 2021. Dyfarnwyd y Dystysgrif gan Weinidogion Cymru a daeth yn weithredol ar ôl cyhoeddi’r hysbysiadau perthnasol, ar 23 Tachwedd 2022. Mae’r Dystysgrif yn caniatáu i ni gaffael hawliau dros dir agored sydd wedi’i gynnwys yn y Gorchymyn.
Isod fe welwch gopi o’r Gorchymyn sydd wedi’i gadarnhau, sydd hefyd yn cynnwys y Mapiau sy’n dangos y tir sydd wedi’i gynnwys. Fe welwch hefyd gopi o’r Dystysgrif, cynlluniau cysylltiedig a dogfennau perthnasol eraill sy’n gysylltiedig â’r Dystysgrif. Os hoffech chi ofyn unrhyw gwestiynau i ni am y prosesau uchod, cysylltwch â ni gan ddefnyddio’r manylion cyswllt uchod ar gyfer 'ymholiadau pellach'.
Rydym wedi creu’r gyfres hon o fideos a dynnwyd o'r awyr i ddangos ble rydym yn gosod pob un o’n tair cylched newydd o geblau, rhwng Gorsaf Bŵer Dinorwig ac is-orsaf Pentir.
Cliciwch i chwarae unrhyw un o'r fideos isod i weld ble rydym yn gweithio. Mae'r fideos i gyd yn ddwyieithog.
Mae pob un o'r cylchedau newydd yn cynnwys tri chebl mawr, sy'n cael eu gosod o dan y ddaear. Rydym yn cysylltu darnau'r ceblau â'i gilydd mewn mannau a elwir yn faeau uniadau, sydd tua chilometr ar wahân ar hyd llwybrau'r ceblau.
Latest update (November 2024)
We are continuing to work on the A4086 and A4244, as well as in nearby fields, to install cable ducting, create jointing bays, and join sections of our cable together.
Our work in November:
• Cutting back vegetation near Llanberis Lake Railway, to allow safe access to where we need to install cables.
• Installing cable ducting and jointing bays in the fields west of Cwm-y-glo and on the A4086.
• Activity inside and outside of Dinorwig Power Station continues.
Traffic management
Where we are working on the highways, we are continuing to use temporary traffic lights to keep road users and our teams safe. For up to date information on where our traffic management is on the A4244 and A4086, visit this page on Cyngor Gwynedd’s website.
We started our work in Autumn 2021 with initial activity happening at our Pentir substation. To date, our work has focused on the installation of ducting under the A4086, A4244 and local waterways, to allow us to put the new cables underground.
While we’ve largely finished this most disruptive phase of the project, there are a few sections of cable ducting left to complete, including a length between Llanrug and the roundabout near Brynrefail.
We are now returning to some locations on the A4086 and A4244 to construct our joint bays, where we are pulling the very large, heavy power cables through the ducting we’ve installed. We use specialist teams and cable pulling equipment that takes cable from a large drum. This equipment will be visible but will be stored within designated working areas.
Where joint bays are needed in or near roads, temporary traffic lights are being used to keep our teams and road users safe.
Throughout our work, patches of very hard rock under the A4086 have caused considerable challenges. It has taken us much longer to dig through than we initially planned. To complete this activity as quickly as possible, we’ve been working longer hours and weekends, and using large, specialist machinery with cutting wheels and rock breakers.
While we undertake our project there are guidelines and restrictions we must follow. Some of these are called ‘embargo periods’, set by Cyngor Gwynedd as the authority responsible for all work on local highways. These are times during holiday periods and bank holidays where we are not permitted to work on the highways without their permission.
For the remainder of our project, we have agreed with Cyngor Gwynedd that we will minimise our work during these busy times of the year. This means we will need to stop, re-fill and resurface the road in places where we’re removing our work completely. We may then need to re-excavate again after the embargo period. This can take a few additional weeks and means our activity is much more ‘stop/start’ and why you may have seen us pause work in a location and return later. The restrictions mean our work on local roads will continue until the end of 2026.
We appreciate people want us to complete the work quickly. We’ll continue working closely and collaboratively with Cyngor Gwynedd to try and bring the completion date forward.
Looking ahead to a further phase of our work, a section of one of our circuits will be installed under the route of the Llanberis Lake Railway track, on the northern edge of Llyn Padarn. We currently anticipate this work starting in Autumn 2025, continuing until Summer 2026.
Every year National Grid honours charities and non-profit organisations by awarding community grants.
We fund all types of projects run by charities and community groups that provide a range of social, economic and environmental benefits in areas where National Grid’s work has an impact on local people. Local groups and organisations near this project could be eligible for support.
We are pleased to say that we have already made awards to organisations associated with this project for the community grant scheme. The application process consists of submitting an application, which will then be reviewed by National Grid.
To find out more, and to learn about the application process and eligibility criteria, please visit: https://www.nationalgrid.com/responsibility/community/community-grant-programme.
To ensure that this cable replacement project is completed within the required timescales, we need to acquire all of the necessary land rights to do our work.
To support the delivery of these land rights, we made the National Grid Electricity Transmission plc (Dinorwig to Pentir Cable Replacement Project) Compulsory Purchase Order 2021 (the Order) for this project on 24 September 2021. On 24 April 2023 the Secretary of State for Energy Security and Net Zero confirmed the Order with minor modifications (see documents listed below). This was publicised on 31 May 2023, at which point the Order became operative.
In addition to the above, we also made an application for a certificate pursuant to Paragraph 6 of Schedule 3 to the Acquisition of Land Act 1981 (the ‘Certificate’) to the Welsh Ministers on 17 December 2021. The Certificate was granted by the Welsh Ministers and became operative from the publication of the relevant notices, on 23 November 2022. The Certificate allows us to acquire rights over open space land included in the Order.
Below you’ll find a copy of the confirmed Order, which also contains the Maps showing the land included. You will also find a copy of the Certificate, associated plans and other relevant documents associated with the Certificate. If you would like to ask us any questions about the above processes, please contact us using the 'further enquiries' contact details above.
We’ve created this series of videos that give an overhead aerial view of where we are installing each of our three new cables circuits, between Dinorwig Power Station and our Pentir substation.
Click play on any of the videos below to see where we are working. All our videos are in dual language.
Each new circuit comprises three large cables, which are all being installed underground. We are connecting our sections of cables together at points called joint bays, which are spaced at approximately one-kilometre intervals along the cable routes.
