Our UK electricity transmission business owns and maintains the high-voltage electricity transmission system in England and Wales, together with operating the system across Great Britain, balancing supply with demand on a minute by minute basis.  Our UK gas transmission business owns and operates the National Transmission System throughout Great Britain.

Our UK gas distribution business delivers gas to some 11 million homes, offices and factories in Britain via local distribution networks.  We also manage the freephone 24-hour national gas emergency number (0800 111 999), which receives around 6 million calls each year that result in responses to about 1.4 million gas escape reports.
