National Grid will begin its next phase of gas engineering works in Langley from Monday 04 January to improve gas supplies to local homes and businesses.
Engineers will work to replace 1km of gas mains with new hard-wearing plastic pipe between Trelawney Avenue and Ditton Park Road. The work will take up to14 weeks to complete but will ensure safe and secure gas supplies for years to come.
Temporary traffic lights will be in place along Ditton Park Road from Monday 11 January. A road closure will also be in place from Monday 25 January 2010 for two weeks at the junction of Ditton Park Manor. Further traffic updates will be issued during the project.
National Grid project manager Mark Whittaker said: “This work has been carefully planned with Slough Borough Council and the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead council to ensure it is carried out with minimal disruption.
“Where possible we will be using advanced engineering techniques to reduce the need for digging, and our engineers will be working seven days a week in order to complete the work as quickly but safely as possible.”
He continued: “We are sorry for any inconvenience caused but the work is vital so people can continue to enjoy a safe and reliable gas supply. And, if you have any queries please call 0800 096 5678.”
The project is part of National Grid’s nationwide mains replacement programme as agreed with the Health and Safety Executive which involves replacing all metallic mains with new plastic pipe within 30-metres of building. In total 17km of gas mains are being replaced in Slough and Windsor.
