National Grid is replacing gas mains in Sunninghill to ensure people in the area continue to enjoy safe, secure and reliable gas supplies in future years.
Existing iron gas mains will be replaced with new hard-wearing plastic pipes which should last for many years if they are left undisturbed.
Work begins this month in Bridge Road, Bagshot Road, Charters Hill and Truss Hill Road, and should be complete in March.
Temporary traffic lights will be used and some partial road closures will be required. These have been agreed with the local authority and other agencies to ensure disruption is kept to a minimum.
National Grid Project Manager Phil Walden said: ““We apologise for any inconvenience and ask local people to have patience while this vital work is carried out. These essential schemes will help ensure residents and businesses in Sunninghill continue to enjoy safe and reliable gas supplies in future years.”
Anyone with queries about the project can call our helpline number on 0800 096 5678.
Work will be carried out by the North London Gas Alliance, a partnership between National Grid and Skanska.
The projects form part of National Grid’s ongoing national gas mains replacement programme, agreed with the Health and Safety Executive, which involves replacing all metallic mains within 30 metres of buildings.
