Pudsey Bear has joined five pylon painters who have painted a National Grid pylon yellow for Children in Need and raised over £1,000 by giving up their day’s pay.
Andrew Barry, Brian Done, Sean Matthews, John Mitchell, and Lee Roberts who are repainting 242 pylons for National Grid, have painted the undercoat of one of the pylons near Lillingstone Lovell, Buckinghamshire Pudsey Bear yellow and given their wages for the day, to help those in need.
Sean Matthews, site manager said, “We were wondering what we could do for Children in Need. After gaining permission from National Grid to paint the undercoat of one of the 150 foot pylons a Pudsey Bear yellow, the only way we thought we could raise money was by giving a day’s pay for the work we do… painting pylons.”
The wages of the five have been matched by CLC contractors and the 45 litres of paint which was needed for the bottom half of the pylon was specially commissioned and donated by RJ Stokes of Sheffield.
The five pylon painters are near to the end of a six month project for National Grid to repaint 242 pylons from Enderby in Leicestershire to East Claydon Buckinghamshire.
