National Grid Advises Watford Motorists Of Road Closure

18/10/2006

Gas pipeline operator National Grid is advising motorists in the centre of Watford that a section of Wiggenhall Road will be closed from 9.30am on Wednesday October 25 to allow emergency gas main repairs.

It will be closed both ways between its junction with Farraline Road and Cardiff Road. The closure is needed to ensure the safety of road users and National Grid engineers while repairs are carried out to a damaged gas main. Access to Cardiff Road will be via Eastbury Road and Deacons Hill.

The work has been planned to coincide with the school half term holiday, when traffic is expected to be lighter, and to avoid Watford’s Carling Cup home game against Hull on the evening of Tuesday October 24.

It is hoped the repairs will be complete and the road reopened by the weekend beginning on Friday October 27. National Grid apologises for any inconvenience during this essential work.
