Land and Development

National Grid relies to a large extent on external organisations and individuals to enable it to carry out its activities. These key audiences influence the way in which National Grid operates on land crossed by its apparatus and how the electricity and gas networks are developed.

The National Grid electricity and gas networks traverse areas of land, both urban and rural, that are owned and occupied for the most part by third parties. The areas of land surrounding our equipment are constantly subject to change and development.

Information contained within this section is aimed specifically at the four key external audiences National Grid is involved with. It provides an overview of the main areas of interaction and gives generic information specific to that interest group. Links are provided to our key publications and a contacts section has been included for each of the key audiences.

We have included information in the following sections:

Transmission Networks

We have just added maps that show notional locations of our Electricity and Gas networks to this section of our site.
