Key operational and commercial Information on the Electricity market is held across four industry websites, provided by National Grid and Elexon. In the past industry parties indicated that this could make it difficult to find the required information quickly and that a central location for key data would be beneficial.
In response National Grid worked with Elexon to develop the Electricity Data Summary webpage, which provides key information from these websites. National Grid and Elexon are continuing to further develop this summary page.
Recent Developments
Two BSC modifications are currently under development for implementation in November 2010.
P243 aims to produce a more detailed forecast of generator availability, by publishing output usable data broken down by 'fuel type' and by ‘BM unit’ on the balancing mechanism reporting system (BMRS).
The BMRS publishes a range of market data sourced from National Grid, including details of generation by fuel type. This generation information is broken down into 11 different fuel categories, two of which represent flows from the England-France and Northern Ireland-Scotland interconnectors. A third interconector joining England and the Netherlands (‘BritNed’) is scheduled to begin operations in late 2010.
P244 aims to include data relating to the Netherlands-England Interconnector (BritNed) on the BMRS, which is scheduled to become operational in late 2010. P244 also makes allowances in the BSC for future Interconnector data to be incorporated into the BMRS without the need for a Modification Proposal.
For further details on these two modifications, please visit the modification area of the Elexon website.
