National Grid celebrates volunteering by supporting Volunteers' Week

National Grid Volunteers

In the last year alone, employees have provided more than 13,500 hours of volunteering support. Upwards of 1,100 employees made a difference working with a variety of charitable organisations, schools and local communities.

At the moment, one in ten employees take part in volunteering projects supported by National Grid. Just a few of them tell us their stories here:

  • Asif Aziz: "...I’m very keen on sport and believe it has the power to make a difference to people..."
  • Ian Hunter: "...It gives me a superb buzz to be part of the “Volunteer” ethos - I am proud to be a RNLI volunteer..."
  • Sue Hughes-Payne: "...I would actively encourage anyone who doesn't currently volunteer to do so - it's a truly life changing experience..."
  • Pete Bateman: "...I’m giving something back after all the support and coaching I’ve received as a scout over the years..."
  • Martina Smith: "...The whole experience has been amazing and extremely worthwhile - it will stay with me for the rest of my life..."
  • Marianne Fitzpatrick: "...It takes dedication and sometimes hard work but if you are prepared for this it is a great experience..."
  • Mel Richardson: "...My experience has enhanced my leadership skills and have discovered skills which I didn’t think I had..."
  • Dawn Castle: "...Give it a go and see what enjoyment you get from it..."
