“I have been an Imagineering tutor at Alderman’s Green Primary School since October 2004 and enjoyed it so much that I increased my involvement in the school and am now the Vice Chair of Governors (Community School Governor) at the school. Being an Imagineering Tutor is a task filled with fulfilment, excitement and development of new skills.
The best part of being an Imagineering Tutor is the look of achievement and happiness on the children’s faces when they have finished making a model and it actually does what the presentation at the beginning of the session has stated it would do.
The learning they get from the sessions is so good that the school has commented on how much it has helped the children who attend with their science work and the results from their SATS tests has risen to a higher level too.
I would recommend anyone who enjoys passing on their skills and knowledge, especially to the next generation of potential engineers, to give Imagineering a go.
You are not only passing on and sharing your skills, experience and knowledge, you will gain so much from your time and feel so much joy. Once you’ve produced the presentations around the learning styles of the particular school, you only have to do this once as the kits remain very similar and are easy to master prior to teaching the children how to do it and the instructions are really easy to follow.
So why not give it a go and see what enjoyment you get from it. If you are apprehensive about becoming a tutor why not just go along to a club and see what it’s all about, then make a decision, I guarantee you’ll be hooked!"
