Waste management
We look for ways to use resources more efficiently through good design, use of sustainable materials, responsibly refurbishing existing assets, and reducing and recycling waste.
The majority of our waste is associated with our land remediation activities.
Our performance measure in this area is total waste. We also measure the waste to landfill and waste recycled.

During 2010/11, we generated some 1.7 million tonnes (2009/10: 1.3 million tonnes), which equates to some 118 tonnes per £million of revenue (2008/09: 91 tonnes) of waste.
